What are the three remotes and four remotes?

What is the Three Remotes

In the distribution network monitoring system, it is necessary for the distribution network automation terminal to send real-time remote signaling and remote measurement information to the dispatch center, while also performing remote control operations for the on-site switches. This is what we refer to as the Three Remotes.

  1. Remote Signaling

Remote signaling, also known as status quantity, includes switch position, grounding knife position, energy storage status, remote/local handle, protection action/alarm, etc. It is divided into real remote signaling and virtual remote signaling. For example, the switch position is a signal obtained through auxiliary contacts, which is real remote signaling, while overcurrent alarms, which are synthesized and calculated signals sent by the automation terminal, are considered virtual remote signaling.

  1. Remote Measurement

Remote measurement, also known as analog quantity, includes data such as voltage, current, power, power factor, and battery voltage. Among these, voltage, current, and battery voltage are collected directly through secondary wiring connected to the on-site automation terminal, while power and power factor are calculated by the automation terminal based on the collected voltage and current data.

  1. Remote Control

Through remote control, dispatch can remotely control the on-site switches for opening and closing operations, and can also remotely activate the batteries of the on-site automation terminal and enable or disable the remote control soft pressure plate of the on-site automation terminal.

  1. Remote Adjustment

Similar to remote control, remote adjustment is also a command issued by dispatch to on-site devices, such as remotely querying and modifying the set values of on-site terminals or querying and modifying other parameters of the terminals. Generally, the reliability requirements for remote adjustment are not as high as those for remote control, so remote adjustment usually does not involve feedback verification.

To enable dispatch to accurately and reliably monitor on-site equipment, the Four Remotes forwarding table is key. The site should prepare a forwarding point table based on the actual conditions of the equipment and professional requirements, and configure the forwarding point table into the distribution network automation terminal. At the same time, the master station must be consistent with the terminal's point table configuration, paying special attention to ensure that the points are not misaligned.
